Use of MOE-produced materials in Primary 1 to 4 English Language Curriculum

In the national English language curriculum (EL Syllabus 2010), which was implemented in 2010 at Primary 1 and 2, our primary schools no longer use prescribed textbooks. Instead they are issued with ministry-produced materials, including children's books and texts written for children for use during shared and supported reading in class and, hence, not recommended for use at home.

To supplement the curriculum, schools can create their own materials or adopt the additional materials approved by MOE. These are listed under 'Optional Enrichment Material'.

Closure of Avenue for Adhoc Submission of Instructional Materials

Over the years, MOE has been accepting, reviewing and approving instructional materials submitted by publishers on an adhoc basis. With effect from 2013, MOE will be closing progressively this avenue of adhoc submission.

Publishers who are interested in submitting instructional materials to MOE for review and accreditation are required to tender for MOE projects beforehand. Publishers who meet the tender requirements are selected and awarded with contracts to develop and publish instructional materials for MOE.
